Benwell Cricket Ground wall This had fallen into disrepair since the cricket team moved to another venue because of the continual burglaries etc. The wall between it and Barrack road was removed in 2002 when Barrack road was widened. This left the section between the cricket ground and Nuns moor park which caused the council many problems, requiring constant repairs see below. In January 2004 it was removed but the unsightly gates and storage containers remain.
It would be nice to know what happened to all the valuable stone bricks that make up the wall?
