New Mills is a lovely new landscaped area. Look at the pictures below and compare them to the terraces around Arthurs hill. You can walk around and actually hear birds.

On the edge of the area there was once a school (community centre for a few years) and a pub (can't remember the name!). While the pub site looks a mess in the picture below it is a mass of wild flowers in the summer including Elder and Buddleia - much better than yet another concreted area with a single tree sticking out as the council have done at the corner of Stanhope st, the last picture on the right below. The site is now (jan 2004) being developed for students
